Phedora's First Day of Kindergarten!!

Yesterday was Miss Phedora's first day of Kindergarten!  It is amazing that our baby is off to the big world of school already.  It feels like we were just bringing her home from the hospital.  My how the time flies by us without us even realizing it!  She was up and ready to go shoes on even, by 8:05.  Her questions of the morning were... is it time to go to school and when will I go to school?
While waiting to take Hayden to school she decided that the tupperware cabinet needed some cleaning up.  It is now messier than before she got to it.
All dressed up and ready for school.
I'm leaving now.
Her backpack.
Kisses from Daddy.
Daddy and his girls.
Kisses from Isis.
It looks like she is pondering something.
Headed to the bus stop.
As a kindergartner, Phedora gets to take the bus to school.
Yeah!  I only have to make 2 trips to the school now.
This is very exciting for me as I thought I would be making 3 trips per day.
Kyler was on his way to the bus stop too so it was picture time for the parents.
Neither one of them seems to want to take a picture with the other.
This was as close to Phedora as Kyler would get.
Funny how something like school changes the kids so much.
Waiting for the bus.
This was as close to Kyler and Niko as she was going to get.
They were all a little embarrassed yesterday.
Today though they were all back to normal playing at the bus stop like old times.
I'm so excited!  Is the bus here yet?
Getting on the bus.
Our baby is such a big girl.
Time for the tears.
Getting off the bus at school.
We were all a little concerned when the bus didn't show up.
The bus is supposed to get to the school at about 12:35, it was 1:05 by the time it showed up.

Phedora said the bus ride was "bumpy"
She was the first one off the bus so she got to be the line leader.
Walking over to the area that the kindergarten's line up at to go to class.
The principle had to walk them over since the rest of her class had already gone in.
Waiting to see where to go and what to do.
She is too darn cute!
Waiting to go to class.
There she goes.  Off to Kindergarten.
I handled Phedora a lot better than I thought I would.
I think it was because I didn't go into her classroom like we did with Hayden.

Phedora said that she had a great day at school.  She was very tired last night though and put herself to bed as soon as we got home from the boy scout meeting.  This morning she was up and ready for another day at school.  She told me that she would rather be in the morning class so she doesn't have to wait to go to school.  Today she was being a little shy though.  Niko's dad called to invite her over for lunch and she said No.  Then decided a few minutes later that she wanted to go.  We ended up heading to the bus stop about 10 minutes early.  Kyler was already there and Niko came out as soon as we got to the end of the street.  All three of them were too excited to go to school and wanted to go wait at the bus stop.  I cant wait to see how her day goes today.

Hayden's 1st day of 1st Grade!!

Yesterday was Hayden's first day of first grade.  He woke up excited to start school again.  Of course he was too happy to be having a camera in his face all morning.  Oh well I only am this extreme once a year or so.
Having breakfast.
Oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar
Homemade cinnamon bread toast
and of course a glass of milk.
His lunch all packed and ready to go.
Ham and cheese sandwich
grapes, oreos, granola bar, cool ranch doritos
and of course a juice box.
All ready to go.
His cool lunch box.
Of course it was a typical Wa day.
But we didn't let a little drizzle/rain stop us.
Stop taking pictures...
we hadn't even left the house.
Ready to go.
Daddy was trying to get him to let me take his picture.
Trying to hide from the paparazzi
Getting a hug Goodbye.
The tears are really trying to break through now.
Bye! Off to find his class.
Getting into line.
And now we wait.
and wait.
And wait some more.
We needed another hug goodbye so we went in and got one.
As you can see he didn't really want another one.
Waiting some more.
A small portion of the madness of the kids getting to their class lines.
This is the 1st and 2nd graders.
Getting ready to walk to class.
Getting his backpack unpacked.
He's ready to learn and Mommy is really fighting back the tears now.
Let the flood gates open.
yep I cried, I left the room, I wiped my tears and came back
then left again and came back to a huge hug goodbye from Hayden.
This only made it worse.

I was oh so happy when 3:25 rolled around and it was time to go pick up the kids from school.  Hayden said the best part of the day was that he got 3 recesses!  Usually I think they only get one maybe two.  He made some new friends and also has some friends from last year in his class again.

Last night at about 6 Hayden asked us if it was almost 7 yet.  Dan and I both looked at him and asked Why?  To which he replied, we have a boy scout meeting at 7!  So we hurried and got dinner finished, ate and headed back to the school for the informational meeting.  We now are the proud parents of a Tiger Scout.  Last night while we learned more about Boy Scouts Hayden was busy outside earning his first belt loop (or maybe its a belt clip) for playing kick ball.  He will get his award next Wednesday at the pack meeting.

After the meeting we came home and got ready for bed.  Hayden was exhausted and said that he doesn't like being gone all day because he misses us too much.  Both Dan and I tried to assure him as much as possible.  He wasn't as excited for school today as yesterday but he was still excited and was feeling a lot better after getting a good nights sleep.

On Friday, Hayden has his first soccer practice so more pictures are coming.

Cookies at the Creek

On Wednesday night the kids found out who their teacher for this year were going to be.  Hayden is going to have Mrs. Weiland and Phedora is going to have Mrs. Neiger.  After finding out who their teachers were they were really excited.  We called around the neighborhood to find out who everyone elses teachers were.  Phedora is going to have both Niko and Kyler in her class this year and they all are super excited about this.  I have to say I kind of feel sorry for their teacher and they are quiet the group just on their own!

Last night we went to Cookies at the Creek and the kids were able to see their classrooms and meet their teachers.  We started with Phedora's classroom.  I think this was the hardest one for me.  I was choking back the tears that wanted to come.  Phedora on the other hand couldn't be happier.  I have been worried about this year since last year she stopped wanting to go to school, over the summer she has been acting like a baby and she hasn't seemed all that interested in going to Kindergarten.  Last night though she couldn't have been more excited!

Phedora in her new classroom.
Standing in front of her cubby.

After meeting Phedora's teacher and checking out her classroom we headed over to meet Hayden's teacher and see his classroom.  His teacher seems really nice and there are a few students from Hayden's kindergarten class in his class this year.  He is really excited that he will know some of the kids in his class.  He even got to put his pencil box and supplies into his desk, so he is already for the first day!
Hayden's Desk.
He is ready for school.
He even gets a locker.
He has to share with another boy named Cameron.
He is trying to climb into his side of the locker.

Posing in front of Hayden's locker.
Yeah!  First grade here I come!

Dan surprised us last night at about 9:15 or so and knocked on the front door.
We thought he was getting home tonight, so it was a wonderful surprise!
Hayden saved this candy necklace all week for Dan.

As summer winds down...

We find that there is not much more than relaxing and shopping going on.  We have almost finished our back to school shopping.  That was a chore with both the kids but also fun.  I loved seeing the outfits and shirts that both the kids picked out.  They couldn't be any more different in this department.  Hayden would pick out things for Phedora who in turn would not like them and visa versa.  It was cute.
The kids are planning a sleep over for tomorrow night.  Ayla is going to come over and they are going to have popcorn, root beer, candy and watch Nanny McPhee.  Hayden and Phedora have yet to see it so I hope they like it.  Ayla on the other hand has seen it and loves it.
Today we are taking it easy, we may go do a little grocery shopping and then come home and make some peach-blueberry pie.  I am contemplating if I want to make one big pie or three individual pies.  I am leaning toward the individual pies.  We have these cute little ramekins that Dan uses for creme brule that we could use.  Making the smaller ones we wont end up eating as much and throwing away as much either.  I love to make different desserts and such but we always end up throwing away most of it.
