Updates...

Wow the time flies, I can't believe my last update was November! We have been keeping busy since then and I have a bunch of pictures to put up. I just have to find the time to upload, edit and post them. I will do it as soon as I can. For now though I will just update.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving here at home with Tom and Peg. The food was amazing like always. On Friday morning in the wee hours before dawn my friend Jenna and I hit the sales of Black Friday. It was my first time out and it was a lot of fun. There wasn't as many people out as I had expected and we both got some really good deals. Of course I was exhausted by about 11.

Hayden had his 6 year well child visit the beginning of December. He was 44" tall and in the 80th percentile height. He weighed 50 lbs and was in the 94th percentile for weight. He is doing really good and the Dr was quite impressed with him. We talked to the Dr about Hayden's ears and how they get infected. Hayden was diagnosed with ear cysts right before Christmas and we will be taking him in on January 28th to have the cysts removed and the problem fixed so that he will no longer have to deal with them. As they are reoccurring every couple of weeks.

On December 5th we had a little birthday party for Hayden. Its hard to believe that he is already 6 years! We had a few of his friends over for a Star Wars party. The kids all had a great time searching for asteroids and running around playing.

On December 20th the kids and I were introduced to the ballet. We went with Tom and Peg to see The Nutcracker. It was so much fun. The kids exceeded our expectations and were really good the whole time. Hayden said he liked it but didn't want to go back. Phedora and I both loved it and can't wait to go again. After the ballet we went over and rode the merry go round at Seattle Center, looked at the train exhibit and then headed over to The Melting Pot for dinner. Bubba and Cathy joined us there for dinner and we all had a great time. The kids loved dipping and making their food.

I made a ton of cookies this year and we had a little decorating party with a few of the kids' friends. It was a huge mess but oh so fun!

This year we celebrated Christmas Eve with Tom, Peg, Bubba and Cathy. We all helped out and made a fabulous dinner. This year Peg taught me how to make the traditional coffee cakes. That was a lot of fun and they turned out very good. I can't wait to make them again. Dan and I were up with Isis before the kids woke up on Christmas morning. We thought for sure that they would have been up before us but they slept until almost 8! We got Phedora a new bedroom set but didn't wrap it because the box was so big and heavy. She didn't seem all that impressed with it when she came out but did go straight for her stocking. Hayden also ran for the stocking. They were a little confused to find Wii games in their stocking. Especially when our Wii was stolen! Then they opened the gift from Santa and it all made sense to them. Santa brought the Posey family a Wii this year. Santa found it for a really good deal right before Thanksgiving and luckily we don't have snoopy kids. We had an lazy morning eating coffee cake and sipping on mimosas and coffee. All in all the perfect Christmas morning.

We spent Christmas afternoon with my parents and Liv and John. Everyone was anxious to open gifts again so we did that right away. Phedora spent most of the rest of the day playing Dora save the Snow Princess and Hayden had fun playing with his new race track. I spent a lot of time loving on little Cael. He is just adorable. He has the biggest smile and the cutest laugh! Then we had a yummy ham dinner. After dinner we played spades and farkle and just caught up and enjoyed our evening. For dessert the rest of the family came over. Isis didn't like all of the excitement at all. She nipped my Grandma, Aunt and Cousin all in the span of about 5 minutes. Luckily she didn't hurt them. We all had a nice time visiting and then it was time to go. We took the kids back to Tom and Peg's, loaded up the car and headed home. We got on a 11:10 ferry and I was so tired. The roads were really icy, but I was happy to be home. It had been a busy couple of days.

On Saturday, Dan and I headed out to get the rest of our ski outfits. Apparently we didn't buy enough stuff over the last couple of months. We were missing a lot of stuff between the 4 of us. Dan and I had a great day together shopping. We got all of our stuff and headed home to make sure everything was ready to go. The kids came home Sunday night and tried on on their gear. Phedora was not happy about this. She didn't like being all bundled up and complained of being hot. Which is understandable. We got up early on Monday morning and headed up to Steven's pass. Dan has been wanting to take us all up skiing and we finally got a chance this year. I have to say that I was terrified to go skiing. The kids and I signed up for lessons and I spent the first lesson avoiding the chair lift. I stayed down in the magic carpet area. It was a lot of fun though hand despite falling several times, not being able to get back up and going way too fast I loved it. Hayden and Phedora both seemed to really enjoy it as well. While we were all in lessons Dan went out and did about 10 runs. He was so happy to be back on the mountain again. I think its been about 10 years since he last skied. After lunch we went back to the magic carpet area. Hayden and I practiced what we learned that morning and Phedora played in the snow. By about 3 Phedora was done and started complaining. We were all pretty tired so we headed back home.

We decided to stay in on New Years and ring it in with our neighbors Mike and Chaundra. We had a great time in the end. At first we were all pretty bored but then the drinks started to kick in and it ended up being a fun night. Someone had the great idea that a bunch of drunk people should go out and try to light sparklers in the rain. Yeah that wasn't the best of ideas, the sparklers didn't want to light but it was still fun and no one was injured!

The kids headed back to school on Monday the 4th. They were both excited to go back. I started classes on the 5th. I am taking Cultural Anthropology and an online Study Skills class this year. I had no idea how much work was involved with Cultural Anthropology but I am really enjoying it. I will be working in the college's Street Outreach program as well. It is a program that makes up bag lunches and takes them out to feed the hungry on the weekends. I am looking forward to my first trip on out on the 30th. I know that we aren't able to make an impact but it we will still be helping people make it through that day with a meal. I learned yesterday that the people on the streets in Everett are not homeless. Apparently, Snohomish County doesn't have any resources for the homeless. So if they are homeless they end up in Seattle where there are shelters and more food banks etc for them. I am hoping that I will be able to squeeze in a trip down to Seattle sometime during the quarter.

On Wednesday the 6th we all took the day off and headed up skiing with Grampee. Somehow, Dan convinced me that it was OK to let the kids skip school. I was not so keen on the idea bust decided that since they are both in ski school still it could be justified. They were after all still learning even if they weren't in the classroom. Hayden is getting really good at skiing. He was the only one in his class and his instructor decided that he was ready to tackle the ski lift. After they got to the bottom though his instructor had a different idea of where he should have been :) Before my class started Dan and Tom took me up the lift. It was terrifying! But I made it down the mountain with only a few falls. When class started we headed straight for the lift. I was very glad that I went up before class. I managed to make it down the mountain 3 times during class without killing myself. I did fall quite a few times though. But by the end of class I was feeling much better about my abilities on skis. After lunch we all played around on the magic carpet and then Dan and I headed up for one last trip down. It was a great day and I am glad that we went.

Since the new year has started we have been super busy. I never realized just how busy my life was before adding school to it. Now that I have started school its even crazier. But I am loving it. I will get some pics up soon. I got them onto the computer now I just have to go through them all. That is a daunting task but will tackle it soon.
