After 5+ years of searching our patience was rewarded and Dan and I bought our first home. It is absolutely perfect in almost every way. Well it has some imperfections but those are overlook able. Our new home is in Snohomish a small little town about 15 minutes from where we were living in Everett. We love that it is more of a destination city, a little off the beaten path.
We live right by a lake and right now have a beautiful view of that lake. We are not sure if we are going to be able to keep our view once the leaves come back but I sure hope so. The kids and dogs are loving having a large backyard to play in. Oh and yes I said dogs. Last month we adopted an 8 year old fox terrier from a family friend. His name is Milhouse and has fit in with our family pretty much from day 1. Him and Isis get along so well and love to play, Isis has definitely brought out the puppy in Milhouse. Phedora loves him and has claimed him as her dog, he sleeps burrowed under the covers with her. He is definitely one of those sweater dogs.
But anyway back to the house :) It is I guess a 2 1/2 story split level. When you come into the house the living room is off to the right. Then there are stairs leading upstairs where there is 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and the kitchen, dining room and sliding glass door to the backyard. Downstairs is 2 more bedrooms and the laundry room, 3/4 bath combo and access out to the 2 car garage.
The kids' new school is a mere 1/2 mile up the road and both of them are adjusting well to the move and their new school. We are on a street fairly similar to our house in Everett only we are further up the street. We are on the corner of a cul de sac that is off of a dead end street. Our neighbors on the street consist of 2 Woodinville cops, a fireman, a mechanic and I'm not sure is we have met the neighbors in the other house. There are also quite a few kids on the street, ages 5 and older. All of the kids play nicely together and have fun riding bikes, trying to climb trees and playing street hockey and basketball. I am not sure how much our kiddos play of the latter sports but they love to ride their bikes.
Since my last post Phedora has learned to ride a 2 wheel bike! She decided that she wanted the training wheels off her bike one sunny afternoon. Dan and I were a little hesitant as she is our baby and she never really rode her bike. After begging us we gave in and took them off. She was a little weary at first as she doesn't like people watching her but when we weren't looking she took off and has never looked back.
Phedora has also really taken off with her reading. She is doing really good and has moved from simple stories to more complex books. Hayden is also a excellent reader. He is already reading at a late 2nd grade level. He is also very much into science and space reading everything about it that he can get his hands on. His latest trip to the library he checked out 2 books on tornado's and 1 about earthquakes. He says that the earthquake one is boring and not at all what he expected. However, he has become quite the expert on tornado's. He can talk and talk about them.
I haven't had much time to take any pictures as of late but I will once life settles down a bit. Between unpacking, school, boy scouts and now swimming there is not much time left. Dan is also gone in North Dakota for an undetermined amount of time. So I am trying to get it all done on my own. Living the rough life but I am actually quite calm and enjoying all that life has to offer.
I think that quite must be the word of the day. I feel as though I have typed it many times :) I am going to try and post at least once a week maybe even more. I will also try and get some pictures up of the kids, the house and the dogs.
Well its late so I better wrap it up.
