Monsoon 2008

Last night we had our biggest storm yet. It started out further south and worked its way up to us by about 8:00. We knew it was stormy but didn't realize just how bad it was until we lost tv. Then we looked out the window and were amazed by what we saw. Lightening strikes filled the nights sky. We were going to record this one also but the camera battery was dead. I don't think that the camera could have even captured a 10th of what we experienced. There was so much lightening that it looked like day at times. Strikes coming one after another and together. Then the rain and the wind came. The rain pour down as the wind blew it in sideways. The news report this morning said that Chandler received between .98" and 1.26", depending on where you were located. We got quite a bit here though I am not sure just how much. The winds were clocked between 80-100 mph. The storm ended up being 3 systems coming in one after the other. We even lost power! Phoenix got hit the hardest with over 65,000 people without power this morning. Power lines as well as poles were down all over Phoenix. Its supposed to storm all weekend. I am hoping that it wont be as bad as last night though. Luckily the kids were fast asleep by the time the full force of the storm reached us. They were scared of the few lightening strikes they saw as the storm moved in. Phedora slept in Hayden's bed last night and Hayden on the floor. She was afraid of the lightening. I will have to get the camera charged up for the weekend now.
